Hi,
I have been riding a steel road bike(Bianchi) for a while. I chose it because the path I ride regularly is not smooth.
I use mtb pedal(simano spd) with quite heavy shoes. The shoes allow me to walk though I realize once I am on the bike, walking is very limited now.
I slowly understand why people are so fuss about detail engineering of bike frame, different materials, components!!!
With my current pedal I feel I waste energy. I don't feel my feet firmly connected to pedals.
I like to be more competitive and fit.
My question is given other conditions equal, how much effect will upgrading bike(i.e reducing weight of frame with road pedals) have on the performance in terms of speed?
My bike shope guy jokes that it costs $1000 to reduce 1lb off the bike!!
With my steel bike, is changing pedals to road ones worth?
Thanks and look forward to hearing your expert opinion.
