Is anyone familiar with the REI touring bikes. I think the road model is the novara? And they have one called the Safari that looks kind of interesting. I haven't found much information on it however. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim.

REI has two touring bikes, the Safari which can ride on paved and dirt roads, is alumium except for cro-moly forks, mach disc brakes this year, LX rear deralleur, trekking handle bars, and runs about $850. Road touring bike is the Randonee, All cro-moly frame, and runs about $950. I have known several people who have gone cross country with the Randonee and where very happpy with the performanece. If you want more info on the bikes, let me know.
