I used Extran racing in Europe. Defnintely one of the best during and after big efforts.

Just eat right and drink right after recovery. The only real 'magic potions' are illegal. Get plenty of carbs with a high glycaemic index (1-1.5g/kg body weight), and a small amount of protein (0.05-0.3g/kg) straight after your ride, and eat a varied and nutritious diet at other times. Recovery drinks and supplements are essentially unnecessary.

Note: there is a small body of evidence that supplementation with anti-oxidant vitamins C and E will help in adapting to new stresses (change in time zone, increase in training load, etc) when taken post-exercise. For dosages and regimes try the AIS website. As a general rule, distrust anyone who suggests that only a certain product or brand will work - their claims are normally unfounded, and all 'recovery' products have generic components that can normally be got either from food or from cheaper vitamin supplements (rather than so called specialised sports formulations).
