  1. My 2003 Record rear derailleur (1,000 km old) seems to have excessive sideways freeplay at the main bush (i.e. the main sprung pivot where the derailleur bolts onto the dropout). This translates to quite a bit of sideways freeplay at the derailleur cage, which (one would think) would lead to inaccurate shifting.

This freeplay does not appear to be adjustable and the 5mm hex bolt to the dropout is tight.

Does anyone know if this normal for Record or if it's a problem?

  2. This is not normal.
