I've never understood the concept of having a cycle lane running between
a bus stop and the kerb - there's one near me. I guess the local
councils that install these things just don't work on common sense.
Doesn't everything have to be risk-assessed these days? Did anyone
assess the bleedin' obvious risk of a bike lane across the front of a
bus stop? Or of a bus stop jumping out into a bike lane? :-)

Talking of which, I had cause to drive into Bristol yesterday, along
Coronation Road. I was once again reminded of the council's stupidity
when it comes to cycle facilities! Danny Colyer has a typical photo at
http://www.colyer.plus.com/danny/cycling/farcilities.html and the
"facility" continues in this vein for, I would guess, just over a mile.
To take that photo I would hazard a guess that his back was against
either another tree or a lamp-post :-)

I really must get a decent digital photo of that tree next time I'm on
Coronation Road (which will probably be June) and submit it to FotM.

Well, there's plenty of trees, lamp-posts and litter bins along that
stretch to choose from! I wish I had a camera with me - I'll try to
remember next time I venture into Bristol. About once every two years
or less if I can help it :-)
