    Anyone here have a recommendation for a simple steel eBay frame that would
    lend itself nicely to a cheap and cheerful singlespeed?

    If you want a cheap fixed gear/SS, the Motobecane Messenger that
    "sprtymama" sells by the boatload for $300 aren't bad for hucking
    around the neighborhood. I like the orange, but the neighbor got one
    in blue. Now comes also in sparkle pink.

    Sparkle Pink!?! I would sure feel mighty "special" riding a sparkle pink
    bike...tempting. But I reckon I'll pass. My wife would get jealous -- of
    the bike, not me. My first "10 speed" was a Nishiki in gawdawful burnt
    orange. I'll take a looksee at that Messenger. Thanks for the tip!

    I just got my group-buy Rob Roy cross frame and would recommend it to you except
    that particular boat sailed already. You'll find the IRO frames online and on
    ebay, nicely turned out for a good price. The forks are a bit heavy, but the
    rest is a nice, light and tight steel frame.
