You may have to freshen other parts to get it to work right. I recently discovered that my old Sante
would not index with a worn out Regina Oro freewheel (not that it should). However, cleaning
everything up and getting a new SunRace freewheel was enough to do the trick, incredibly enough,
even with the old Regina America chain.

Someday I may get me one o'them newfangled freehubs, just so I can get some decent cog selection.

I don't have the definitive take on this but enough noise has been made on this newsgroup for me to
say you won't be able to index that particular derailleur - wrong geometry. Sorry. The good news is
that it shouldn't be hard to pick up a derailleur of good quality that will work.

i like my cog selection. it's a 12-28 that i ride with a 36 and a 52 chainring. but yeah, a freehub
would be nice, you don't have to worry about bending your axle and that rotten freewheel float (if
you have one you know what i mean). i think that the next time i come into any considerable amount
of money i might just get the rear spread to 130mm and get a nice 8 speed freehub setup (they're 8
speed ultegra barend shifters that i have, supposedly they should index fine with 7 speeds). maybe
also go for some new paint, she's showing her age. alfred
