On the way to the meet at Palmer Park velodrome (travelling on the
megabike) we caught up with a gent on a Burrows 2D. He asked if we
knew the way to Palmer Park, so we said "follow us!" and off we went.
I opined that the very designer of said bike might be there, but the
gent merely smiled.
I later found out that this was because he was (a) very deaf, (b) well
acquainted with said Mr Burrows and (c) Richard Ballantine. Which was
nice :-)
Also present: Mr Larrington, Mr & Mrs Hague, Mr "Kingcycle" Kingsbury
and sundry others. The usual relaxed atmosphere was in evidence (we
arrived at about 11:45 and the 11:00 race had no long started!).
There were Greenspeeds to play with and KMX Karts, fun for all the
family.
Several apprentices had been fitted out with homebrewed recumbents of
one sort or another, one of which looked like it had once been a
Chopper.
Mr Burrows essayed a race on the RatRacer B, his New! Improved!!
lowracer, which has a pivot built into the front hub. He was involved
in a contratemps with the rear of another machine which was to the
detriment of his skin suit and provided some exceptional examples of
road rash, including the classic "[censored] hanging out of the ripped
lycra" look. Photographs were taken (though not by me).
