Using the youth hostel will allow us to travel light - no tents needed, nor food, except packed lunch for the 1st day. What personal kit the scouts will have (change of clothes, minimal wash kit) will, unfortunately, be carried in small back packs as not many/any of them have racks or panniers.
I'm going straight to hell for this one, but maybe an adult in an estate car could parallel the route? Carry the scouts bags, and some goodies for the evening meal.

As an aside, I saw the reprint of 'Scouting for Boys' in Stanforfds yesterday. (Looking for Rough Guide to Berlin, out of print ATM). I nearly bought it. Flicking though it, BP is all in favour of football. For the boys to play - he has no truck with hordes of people going to spectate on the terraces.
