It's the best time of year. Everything's simple. Shorts, jersey, SPD
sandals. No panniers, no leg warmers, no extra base layer for those
chiolly mornings.
Best part: who cares if it rains? An afternoon rain on a hot humid day
is just more fun, especially when it blows by early enough in the ride
that your bike is dry by the time you get to where you're going.
As long as you keep moving, you've got a nice breeze to keep you cool.
Sometimes the urban part of the commute on a hot afternoon can get
smelly and unpleasant, it's true.
I will say that when I was fat and out of shape I didn't enjoy summer
riding nearly as much as I do now. My metabolism seems to handle hot
weather much better now.
