  1. No question that the person who reviewed the study likely didn't know a whole lot about basic
biology, but the scientists found that respiration in enchanced and not slowed, in the calorie
restriced species studied. You can't blame the scientists for the reporter' stupidity, but my
point was that there are people, like mercola, who come to conclusions that are not backed by
science. It is still not certain what the mechanism behind calorie restriction is, and calling all
fruit unhealthy is really nut job material. It's amazing how often I see this sort of thing. These
kinds of people criticize others for not supplying references, and then they turn around and do
    the same thing.

This latest study probes how Sir2 is activated by calorie restriction. The authors report that a
coenzyme related to NAD, called NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) inhibits Sir2 by
blocking the action of NAD. During calorie restriction, levels of NADH decline in cells. This
    decrease in NADH

NAD and NADH+H+ is the same molecule, in two different oxidation states. Not two nearly related
molecules. Not understanding this, the rest of the article is pure nonsense."
