Being that I'm still fairly new to lowcarb (I have done it for about 6
or so weeks total) I'm wondering about when you started paying
    attention to calories.

I started tracking calories on Fitday about two months after I started
on Atkins. I'd had the usual after-induction plateau, and though I
started losing again after that, I wanted a better feel for what I was
    actually eating.

I have started watching them in the past couple weeks and strive to
    keep them below 1500.

I keep seeing 'calories will count eventually', I'm just wondering
what people feel is the 'eventually'.

For me, "eventually" came sooner, because I've been eating 1300
calories per day for almost a year, and I think I can keep doing that
    more-or-less indefinitely.

That's a switch from most other diets I've been on, where I've mostly
tried to keep to 1000 calories/day or below. You wouldn't think 300
calories could make that much difference, but when it means I can have
some pistachios or fruit with cream or (JC, avert your eyes) a
low-carb ice-cream bar in the evening, it means a lot to me.

  2. I started tracking my calories when my losses started slowing down. When I
weighed over 200 pounds I could eat anything low carb, without thinking. Now
I'm careful to not exceed 2000 if I have hopes of losing any more. 10x your
weight is my rule of thumb.
