Being that I'm still fairly new to lowcarb (I have done it for about 6
or so weeks total) I'm wondering about when you started paying
attention to calories.I have started watching them in the past couple weeks and strive to
keep them below 1500.I keep seeing 'calories will count eventually', I'm just wondering
what people feel is the 'eventually'.
I started counting calories about 5-6 months in after losing about 25
lbs (down to about 180 lbs at that time). Mind you, I kept TRACK of
them from the first day, but I didn't start regularly restricting my
calories until that time. I thought it would help me to lose weight
faster, and it DID seem to be the case, at least for a few months. When
my calories consistently go up to about 1600-2000, I don't lose. Of
course, there are also long stretches when I DON'T lose and I'm only
eating 1200-1500 calories per day. I think it's a very individual
thing. What DOES seem to speed up loss for me is exercise every 2-3
days. I lost very little when I went 3-4 months of just sporadic
exercising (sick, injured, AFRAID of getting sick (which tends to happen
to me when I step up my exercising)). After all this time, I just
accept that my body has it's OWN timetable for losing weight and I can
only do so much to nudge it along -- as long as I keep nudging, it DOES
eventually move.
