I was in a wheelchair shop today (long story) and had a look at the wheels while I was there. The solid puncture proof tiers seem very popular. Has anyone tries these on the front 2 wheels of a tadpole trike?
One issue will be the potential for the tire to roll off the rim during hard cornering (this is not an issue for non-pneumatic tires on single-track vehicles unless the fit is excessively loose). If I tried this, I would consider using tubular cement to increase the force required to roll the tire from the rim.
I remember having little wire tire savers on my bike back in the 70s or early 80s. It worked quite well. They were just a wire loop that went under a brake bolt, then a couple vinyl noodles and finally one wire that connected the two noodles and was bent to conform to the tire surface. Total weight about 1/4 oz. I suspect air filled tires are a much more comfortable ride than solid tires.
