I got into a fist fight with a drunken 22 year old cager in 2001 and got
in the newspaper, which in turn found it's way onto the company bulletin
board. That was hard enough to live down. About 5 people called 911 and
3 police cars showed up then they wanted me to press charges for assualt
and battery, AND show up in court to testify. They told me that, yes, I
could have broken him in self defense instead of just shadow boxing him
until they arrived. I was afraid of hurting him and getting arrested,
since that is the way my luck goes. BTW, this whole thing started
because I took the lane and he didn't want to go only 20 MPH behind me
    for a half a block.
The cops were actually mad at me for not kicking his butt since he
appeared to be the trouble making son of a rich guy and they did not
like him, nor did all the residents. It seems the whole town knew this
guy and wanted him to go down, but I would have had to take off work to
press charges. They actually let him drive away drunk.
    Some times you can't win.
Just don't ask which paper it was in.
    Bill

You should have pressed charges...just because you had to "take off work
    to
press charges" is a pretty lame excuse for not following through on your
    responsibilities.

BTW, a Google New search for "baka+assault" reveals only a single link:
    http://tinyurl.com/qazlh I knew that you were a (self-proclaimed) wild
mountain man, but I didn't realize you were so kinky!

Gary is right. The only way you can get through to most miscreants is by
pressing charges. Yes, it is trouble all around, but in the end it is worth
it to try to get some justice.

Bill Baka seems to be constantly making excuses for not seeking his just
dues. We humans are contentious as hell and taking someone to court is a
very good way of getting back at the wrongdoer. The law grinds exceeding
slow but it grinds exceedingly fine - and will drive a yahoo to distraction
and make him wish he was never born.

I urge Bill Baka to pursue justice with a vengeance as I know he has the
    spirit for it.
