As a quick test, I rode from work to Los Gatos (downtown) as fast as I
could go. It is fairly flat (but not pancake flat). I hit two stop
lights where I had to stop and wait for a moment, but made all others.
A little over 9 miles (I forgot to write down the exact file), I
completed in 35 minutes (moving, cycle computer) averaging 16.1 mph. It
is really really hard to average over 15 mph. When I got home (at 6:15
pm, after leaving work at 5:15 pm), Louise couldn't believe that I was

two steps before having my hands hit the ground and sliding on the
pavement. I bent my steel handlebar a bit. I have a small scrape on my
hand, a tiny scrape on my knee, and a tiny scrape on my side (we are
talking 1-2 mm scrapes here). And to top it off, my dad's house is in
the line of fires in Santa Cruz hills! agg...
