Having just got drenched on my commute home today (and finding out that the quoted battery life on my front light is out by a factor of two) could anyone suggest the best to keep the rain out for 50-55 minutes of road cycling (and a mile of forest track). Even with waterproof coat and trousers the rain found its way in and got in my shoes and just about everywhere else. What do you wear on a wet day?
For a longer ride:
Cap with a good peak Vest with good wicking properties Long sleeve lycra jersey Breathable nylon race cape with side vents Fleecy lycra tights Breathable nylon overtrousers with mesh backs and no seat Acrylic socks Touring shoes with nylon spats or Cleated shoes with neoprene overshoes Track mitts or gloves depending on the temperature
If that's too warm remove the cape and/or overtrousers - you will get wet but you won't be uncomfortable and you'll dry out quite quickly.
For a quick trip into town I just chuck my Belstaff jacket and cheap plastic overtrousers over whatever I happen to be wearing at the time.
So there are capes different to the usual big flappy jobs? Which one are you using, if you don't mind me asking? I have only seen the full size cycling capes for sale, and not many of them.
