  1. Try looking at the Freestyle range of cycle-specific rainwear. I've had my
(Goretex) jacket for several years and it has been very good. Also an
    excellent wind-block.

    Hi all,

I want a new waterproof. The follow characteristics seem desirable:

    - It should be waterproof (somewhat unlike my current one)
    - It should be breathable (decidedly unlike my current one)
    - It should have a hood which stays up even when riding into a stiff wind
    - It should have a convenient pocket for maps, eg a large breast pocket

Are they any other features i should be looking for?

Moreover, can anyone suggest a jacket, or make of jacket, which fits the
bill? I could just walk into an outdoor shop and see what they've got,
but i'd hate to miss something really good just because they happen not
    to have it.

I prefer a cape. I have a bloody good dark green Carradice waxed cotton
cape with hood. Except for not being a jacket, it seems to agree with your
    specification.
