Yes, they are quite expensive if you get them from an outdoor shop.
I have two pairs of poles. My first pair are Leki Sport (which I was
told is a different company to Leki). They cost me (erm..... can't
remember.... it was in around 1997...) about 45-50 UK pounds for the
pair and were fine until, last year, one of them broke. The
telescopic bit jammed and I can't tighten the join when the pole is
extended.
So..... I went to Aldi. Aldi and Lidl occasionally have poles and I
managed to get two for about 7 or 8 pounds each. On the face of it,
these cheap poles are "better" than my Leki Sport (they are
anti-shock) ..... and, for the price. they're certainly no worse!
