I agree.
Quoted message said:I'm not sure if I would stop. I like to think that I would, but I
reckon I would be scared [censored].
So would I, but I'd still stop.
Quoted message said:I'd be scared of losing my licence
for killing someone (even if I'd not stood a chance, as the driver, of
avoiding them) and I'd be scared of "the unknown" waiting in the dark.
This might sound pathetic but I think that is how I would feel.
I'd be scared of losing my licence as well; however I'd find
it even harder to live with myself if I failed to stop,
investigate and if necessary call for help.
Quoted message said:I think I would drive on, to a lit place,
But that could be miles away!
Quoted message said:and call 999 and say I had
just driven over something and I think it was a body. By the time the
police arrived I would probably be near hysterical.
I expect I probably would as well, but if I didn't stop and do
the right thing I would consider myself totally despicable and
my failure to be a caring, human being would haunt me for the
rest of my life. Regardless of any putative risk to me, I'd
stop. The converse doesn't bear thinking about.
