  1. Get over this strained left ankle...all race plans scratched. Focus is just
being able to run medium speed without any pain with minimum downtime.

Then race some 5k/10k road and shorter (under 20 mile) trail races.

Mon: 7 easy on flat sandy bridle trail. Some soreness at the end. Iced in
    PM.
Tue: 12 medium, 2240' climb. Ran uphills hard, downs easy. Ankle sore at
    end.
Wed: 0 Started to hike, but hurt even walking. Got back in car, iced in PM.
    Thu: 0 Iced.
Fri: 0 Iced. Feels fine walking around, try running some tomorrow.
Sat: 14.4 2:00 1820' climb in mtns. 8:20/mile. Ran half med/hard, rest real
    easy.
    Sun: 12 1060' climb, recovery, 1:50 9:16/mile.

    45.4 sore ankle miles.

First time I've taken 3 days off in a looooong time. Babying that ankle.

It's frustrating because I am (or was) very fit, and looking to break some
    5k/10k pr.

No intentions of racing back to back to back to back like a a certain other
overachieving 55+ who shall remain unnamed.

There's an elite 5k south of here where I was hoping this weekend to mix it
up (mano a mano as Lance would put it) with the likes of last year's winner
(13:2x) or heck, even with the women's champ (14:xx). That will have to
    wait for next year...

That's the one...all the local elites (in all age groups) seem to race that
    one.
