I've been cycling for about a year now. I'm 53 5 11 at 170 lbs. Here's the chart of my workouts. I think according to the race results that I have seen I might finish somwhere around 10th. I may need to level with shorter rides with more intensity in order to inprove my time trials that are about 18 in for 6.1 miles. Today my average speed at 17.8 on a 27 mile ride was my personal best. I'm not sure where to take the training from here to peak sometime this fall.. Here's the graphic:

It's kind of hard to tell from the graph, but it looks like you're doing lots of the same types of rides. Are you mixing in tempo days (zone 3), easy days (zone 2), and lactate threshold days (zone 4)?

The rides are around a park which has lots of hills. Some days are easy days when I feel like I need to slow down. I bike every other day so with the great weather that we have been having I haven't missed many. I use a pace audio tape that leads me through interval training ie. 2 min high cadence 35/ 15.. twice, biggest gear out of the seat for 20 sec 40 sec recover 6 times, 70% max for 20 sec 100% for 10 sec.... etc... on the hills I improvise. I was wondering about hitting the 50 mile rides for a few more weeks or leveling out to more like 30 mile rides for a few weeks. I do strength training when I can find time.
