We then travelled on down to Woodhenge and Stonehenge. Normally I wouldn't
pay for entry to Stonehenge (?5.50) but my friend paid so I went along with
him! There is something about not having a wiremesh fence obstructing your
view and you get more of an idea of how the henge stands in the landscape. A
free audio tour is provided which talks you around the site and tells you
what you can see and what it means.

I found the audio tour quite well presented when I went last year. They've
got actors playing the parts of the local farmers, workers carrying the stones
all the way, king/prince etc, each telling the story from their imagined
perspective. I suppose nobody really knows what went on at the time and
in their heads, but I remember the attempt at capturing that as rather well
    done.
