has done something jerky, like look up an old post which has nothing to do
with the present. The reason such a person is a jerk and deserves to be
called a jerk is because no intelligent person would ever bother with such
foolishness. But that is what jerks do all the time not knowing any better
and being somewhat stupid into the bargain.
What gets said in any message belongs to that thread and no where else. But
jerks have so little resources at their command that they live like
parasites off of posts that are dead and gone. In order to make sense out of
posts on a newsgroup, they have to be placed in context with EVERYTHING that
has come before in that thread. Unless you do that, well, then you are a
jerk!
Jerks are beneath contempt of course, but they never realize this. They go
to their graves thinking the rest of the world never appreciated their mice
like endeavors. They are perhaps more to be pitied than condemned, but
condemnation is more fun.
