that's about as true as saying "take your child to work day" is about
promoting the business where you work. why advertise, or have marketing
departments when you can just have everyone bring their kids in, yeah!

I'm not sure you're qualified to answer but know your propensity to do
so anyway...sounds to me like it's an opportunity to enjoy the great
outdoors, practice family values and do some bonding. not that
"promoting" MTB-ing is wrong but I've never really seen such an
exercise. awareness, yes. having a healthy bike industry, yes.
keeping trails open, yes. few different concepts there (hard for some
PhD's to understand maybe).
