Yes ...... it was this morning to mid afternoon ....... but not too good
now. Overcast and drizzle ....... However, we did have the best of the
weather for today's walk.
Clare and I left home at 10:00 this morning in glorious sunshine, to head
east past Chichester and up to Goodwood Race Course. Parking at the eastern
end of the race course, we set of north, and down through Charlton Park (a
wood), to Charlton village. Small quaint place with thatched cottages and
very pretty country gardens. Left Charlton on a track heading around the
eastern side of Levin Down and west of North Down, then north through
Charlton Forest to join the South Downs Way at Heyshott Down. Turning
right, headed east along the SDW to Graffham Down, then back south through
Lamb Lea to a rather pleasant wide valley. Coffee stop in the sunshine
here, just outside the woods, then it was off over High Down and down to
East Dean. Another really quaint place, a mile east of Charlton. After a
short road walk through East Dean, it was back onto footpaths for the final
section south through Eastdean Park (another wood attached to Charlton Park)
and back to the car park.
Superb 10 mile walk through rolling green hills and forest of the South
