And that's the problem which is why you got such a hot reaction. Too
many well meaning people make the same assumption you appeared to, that
cycle helmets somehow offer the same kind of injury protection that
motorcycle helmets do, to the extent that an entire organisation was set
up to try and force all cyclists to wear them, and that organisation
then appeared to try and hoodwink parliament with what I gather are
entirely bogus statistics on the matter.
Risk is part of life. Without some danger, there is no pleasure.
Granted, this is hard on healthcare workers who have to deal with the
risks that go wrong - but that goes with the job.
