More than likely started by folks linked to a dairy industry that's worried about the strong inroads soy has made in to their market in recent years. They know that once these stories get started, it can take a long time for them discredited and completely snuffed out. Can't risk losing those government subsidies and market share.
Yeah, the dairy industry would rather you drink cow juice from cows that have been pumped full of steroids, growth hormones and antibiotics and are kept/live in MUCH less than healthy conditions.
