1. I bought a pair of these grips and installed them last night. I ride ~7 miles to work and previously my fingers were becoming numb on the last mile or so (I had a pair of old [10+ years] ToadStools). On my ride this morning, not only were my fingers numb, but also a large part of my hands. I’m pretty sure I installed them incorrectly.

Where is the “bump” supposed to be placed? I tried installing them so that they were on top of the handle (so that the bump was on my palm) and then twisted them during the ride so that the bump was pointed toward the rear of the bike. Neither setup worked to alleviate the tingling. 😠

I thought these were supposed to eliminate tingling in the hands, not increase it! Any suggestions?

    😕

Oh yeah, I'm also new here (if you couldn't tell by my post count :rolleyes🙂. I've started commuting by bike here in Northern Virginia as gas is too expensive and traffic sucks. It takes me ~30 minutes each way by bike vs. 20 going to work and anywhere between 20 and 45 coming home. I've been doing this for the past week or so and hope to continue at least part time once school starts up (I drop the kids off on my way to work during the school year). Maybe the missus and I will share this duty if things work out well with commuting by bike.

  2. Nevermind. I waited until they opened and gave them a ring. 🙂

The "Serfas" that's imprinted on each grip should face the front of the bike such that if you were standing in front of the bike, you'd be able to read it on each grip.

The bump serves as a ledge to reduce the fatigue on the palm and thus should be facing toward the rear. I'll have to adjust them for the ride home and see if that does the trick.

  3. Sam it sounds like you are bending your wrists, its a Carpal Tunnel problem. Keep the back of the hand and the forearm in a straight line, don't let the wrists sink down. You may be too low on the bars, too much weight on the hands and getting tired.

Do a forum search on Carpal.

Thanks, George. I adjusted them for the ride home and found that, properly installed, they were better, but still not perfect. I'll give your advice a shot for tomorrow's ride re: arm positioning.
