Just lower your bike seats and while there is not so much free space as
in the larger van, if you have normal size bikes and use either the
premade front fork mount I have (can't determine the brand) - or just
get a couple of front fork mounts and put them on a board, you should be
able to carry 2 bikes upright, inside the back of the XB.
Thanks for the info. I finally got around to taking my bike with me for
a test fit (actually, was on the way to the LBS to drop off the bike for
some work, so went by the Scion/Toyota dealership). Found what you
mention: need to lower the bike seat for it to fit upright.
This dealership is next door to a Saturn dealer. On the way out, stopped
there. Four hours later, left with a new Vue (surprisingly, at least to
me, for less than the Scion equipped the way we wanted it). Ordered the
inside bike fork mount carrier from the dealer and will pick it up
Wednesday. Now no more scratching up the trunk with the bikes hanging
off the back. (Yeah, I know, I could have gone with a roof rack. But my
wife's got shoulder and back problems, so she couldn't lift her bike
that high if she was going out by herself.)
