I worked at a schwinn dealer and got prologue steel frame in 1987.
It was sold as a frame only but dealters could put anything on it. I
built mine and was ashamed to pull off the sticker "made in Japan". I
still have it and raced on it 6 years. Repainted by romic in Houston.
The waitlist for a paramount was 1 year and no employee discount.
So a framebuilder and I looked at one. It was built to the exact
dimensions of a paramount 58cm. Alignment dead on. The welds were all
hand done and pristine, deep and no flaws. The fork is a feather and
the frame is the lightest I'd seen. Any other carbon or light frame
in 1987 would be dead now.
Steel lives forever.
