It's funny, but I try (too hard, perhaps) to find redeeming
characteristics in people I oppose. I'm grateful that the property
manager I've butted heads with works like a North Korean political
prisoner to keep the building going. Reagan was a genial guy, and a
better actor than he's given credit for. GHW Bush is something like a
serious war hero. GW Bush _is_ the kind of guy you'd like to have at
your barbecue.
Bob Dole is a really funny guy who paid a huge price for the future of
his country - and many others. John McCain is a hero, and has my respect
forever.
James Dobson cares passionately about his country, and is actually
pretty smart within his field (which is unfortunately neither politics
nor sociology).
Limbaugh... is one of my few failures. He is a spectacularly
mean-spirited man. He is a liar, and a coward. As a distorter of truth,
he stands with anyone in history. I try to find anything at all to like,
admire or respect in this shrieking champion of the overdog, but...
nope. just can't do it.
