The climb is about three times the length of the part you did and not
any less steep either. You get rewarded with a longer descent on the
main road down to Mytholmroyd though

The downhill bit in the middle of the specified route was almost as
fraught as the climb due to the speed humps and lack of brakes...

Be thankful for hydraulics.

The (shimano) mechanicals actuate by arm rotation through approx 160
degrees; due to the way they mount on the trice you only get about 90
degrees of travel before the arm hits the casing.

Whilst this means you only wear out 1/2 the pads, the [censored] side of the
Devil (Elenith) is NOT the place to find such design issues.

I'm *really* glad nothing was coming the other way.
