Until yesterday I'd only been on a couple of road rides since last season due to winter weather hanging on and me wanting to ski when it's good (which has been all season!). Monarch closed yesterday with an 85" base and great conditions. A shame, but nobody seems to want to come up skiing past Easter so it doesn't make sense for resorts to stay open much longer. I skied my final Monarch day on Thursday with 13" new over night and 19" in 48 Hrs. An amazing day I'd expect to be skiing sometime in February, not the end of March. Crested Butte closes next weekend and I hoe to get one more day there before it's all over (sniff).
It was awesome at Monarch on Thursday! Just wish there wasn't that pop in my knee when I fell on Upper Hall's Alley. :-( I had just done the same run and had so much fun, I was doing it again. I think I [censored] off the gods on that one, so they got me. Nice sled ride down though. Doc says it looks like a partially torn ACL. MRI was today.
Oh no! What's the recovery time look like? Surgery or just PT? I think I saw the unmistakable trail of a sled Thursday and thought to myself "Uh oh. Sure wouldn't want to get hurt this close to cycling season.".

Pain in a good way-sounds like mountain biking to me. :-) I came through Gunnison a couple weeks ago and was surprised how little snow there was in the valley.

It went very quickly once it started warming up. Anything shady is still snowy and/or wet but hopefully it will dry out soon.

As usually-it depends. If it's a sprain (doubtful since my regular doc can move my knee some) I get PT. A partial tear can go PT or surgery. My doc thinks it's a partial tear since it doesn't move as much as a complete tear, and there isn't the pain or swelling normally associated with a complete tear. As soon as I felt the pop, my first thoughts were about the mountain biking and flying seasons getting shot to hell. I flew on Sat. in Boulder anyway :-). Recovery from surgery is about six weeks, but from what people who've had similar say I could be riding with a brace during some of that time. For now I wait to get MRI results and an orthopod appointment.

This current storm looks like it's going to hang up over the mountains, we'll see.
