last october we had 10 days holidayon koh samui and went on a mountain bike
day trip across the hills.
very hot climb up the hill via a sealed road through an army checkpoint,
once we were up the hill the climate was mild and nice for cycling, went
through farms and forest and stopped for lunch at a crowded park with
sculptures and streams,, our guide told us it belonged to a rich local, who
kept it open as a place for the farmers up the hill to use for picnic's
we met ross and his wife there, our guide knew him and introduced him to us
as we are also from australia.
he was the only european in the park besides our group. he told us we were
lucky we were with the tour as the army didnt allow europeans to use the
road, it was only for the army and the farmers,
I asked how he got there and Urn said they had a farm a few miles away,
we moved from our hotel at chewang which we didnt like to a bungalow on mae
narm beach ross recommended to us,
he loaned us some bikes for our last 3 days on koh samui and took us for
some rides up the mae narm valley and onto the hills
I've e-mailed ross to let know about this news group, hope it works out for
you.
