It has just been reported that Rob Milne died nearing the summit of
    Everest.

    He will be missed.

Rob had become a good friend via this news group and advised me on
many routes, both through the group and privately via email. I never
had the pleasure of meeting him but will certainly miss his
    contributions here.

Should any of his family read these notes please accept our deepest
    condolences.

    Rest in Peace Rob

    Graham

Yes indeed. It's a terrible shock and a great loss.

I met Rob a few times, a truly nice man. His american accent would throw you
a bit at first, but he did a great deal for Scottish walking climbing and
mountaineering. He will be missed very much.

I'll remember him from one winters night in the Adventure Centre at Ratho, I
was wearing 5 layers including 2 thick fleeces, Rob was wandering about in
    shirt sleeves....

    Very very sad.

I just heard it on the national news. Reproduced below is a bit of
advice he once gave me with regard to bagging Corbetts:
    Quote:
"Remember to work on the remote and far away ones sooner rather than later
or you'll get near the end like Richard and I will only problematic hills
    left!"
    Unquote.

Sound advice from a bloody good bloke.
