    the questions on what to buy for commuting imply the 9 speed

    the 9 speed parts vs 8 speed parts or 7 speed converted to 8 with a
    spacer and cog(no chrome ATB shimano)are uh somewhat less expensive
    and probably more durable given the greater surface area on the 8/7
    setup.
    people tell me this comparison is all nickle and dime stuff but...
