abrasion with some gravel gouges.
When I racked up my knee a couple years ago, I spent some time in
the bandage aisle. Anything with regular adhesive and a dry pad didn't
work (this was on the top of the patella, and it needed to bend).
The gel bandages provided an interesting "oven window" view of the
healing process. IIRC the goo was there, and I'm guessing that a dry
pad bandage absorbs it so you don't notice it.
Boo-boo size would have been very uncomfortable as a scab. The gel
bandage prevented one from forming, which was fine.
I changed it every other day (YMMV) and eventually went to New Skin.

Not my worst scar, nor my most obvious. Gel bandages aren't cheap,
but it's probably the same treatment you'd get from A Medical
Professional. (You know what they call the lowest-ranked grad of
medical school, right?)
