I don't think you can believe anything at the moment - they seem to
have gone into a data deadzone, so all the teams look to be bunched up
on the edge of that zone. The last readings range from almost an hour
ago for the leading teams so 40 minutes or more later for others. The
way I understand it is that it uses the mobile phone network to send
the position data from each team's GPS unit to the web, so even though
the GPS will be working, the data can't be gathered if they're out of
range of the nearest mobile phone mast. Hopefully they'll all start
being picked up again when they get near the next town (Glasgow or
something I think).

Rob

EDIT: They're back now :)

Wow what a huge gap of cell coverage.

This means that the pack of people together aren't actually together,
that is just where the cell coverage ended.

It looks like team NZUNI managed to catch a small blip in coverage, and
thats about it.

Cause there's only two of them and GPS has an inbuilt filter that
filters out data regarding well-known maniacs.

I think.

My bad, the check box on the right of the team name got unchecked by
itself. I did not notice it because usually all get unchecked not just
one.

Back in range, and it looks like NZUNI is ahead of the German Speeders
by two seconds. With Personal rollercoaster in third and Texacali in
fourth!

For those not watching online:
at this moment there is a serious race happening at the front of the
pack:

it looks like this:
Team 87: Personal Roller Coaster
Team 78: Smile
Team 27:NZUNI
Team 44:German Speeders
Team 4: TEXACALI

all within a half a km of each other.

A clot of teams about 2km back.
Weather looks OK.
I'm guessing fast times today for all teams.

More as it happens.
Best,
William
