Lots to cheer about. Here are the standings as of a minute ago: Smile Texacali Lost Wheelers Totally Doable Surly Speed Goats Team Atlas Team Venus Team Manly Legs American Mojo North American Youth Weather has cleared. It's a little cool and the race is headed to the Atlantic Coast. Could be chillier and more windy than the terrain just covered. More winding roads on that shore and very narrow roads. I have the answer about the sometimes spotty GPS coverage. Nova Scotia has some very dead cell coverage areas and the race has been passing through them. Evidently the GPS units first communicate with cell towers which then upload the data to satellite Just remember, Nova Scotia is 900,000 people, more than half of which live in the Halifax area. Pretty much the rest of us live on the coast. There really isn't much happening in the middle, exceept a great deal of clear cutting. Hence, no real need for expensive cell tower installations and so dead spots. Hope this helps. More in two hours. Sorry about that,
the fault is mine.
Quite a group now bunched up as they leave the high ground in the
middle of the province and drop down to sea level.
Everyone will have earned their lobster dinner tonight at the Shore
Club in Hubbards, a 1940's dance hall that is party central in that
part of NS.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes. First, MEXICALI and now missing an
icon. I guess its been a long year.
Oh on the Chinese food front. Halifax does have places with duck feet,
pig's things and some really unidentifiable things, but generally
delicious.
You didn't say where you were. I'd like to look up the typical cuisine.
One of the books I'm reading now is a general overview of China's
history, culture, etc, etc. Be keen to know.

We really appreciate your updates William. You are the only source of
live news for this race. I wonder why nobody has even put the time
standings from day one on the office RTL homepage yet? Wouldn't even
the competitors be interested to know the current time gaps for
strategy and pacing purposes? It would add a lot of interest in the
race for the outside world as well.

No need to appologize, its pretty understandable to over look the
occasional team. Looks like smile and the Germans dropped off the
radar, but NZUNI is far in front of Texacali.
I'm in Guilin right now, although two days ago I was in Shenzhen.
I had some bitter melon and beef on rice with some more veggies and the
most interesting chocolate milkshake ever for dinner tonight. Good
stuff.
