    Mine got thoroughly soaked on a trip to Bolton Abbey a few months ago -
    fortunately it did dry out and work properly once more after an
    afternoon on a window sill above a radiator - since when I've when I've
    always wrapped it in a plastic bag for riding in the wet!
    Other posters have already mentioned wedge packs as the successor to
    the saddle bag, and some quite roomy ones are available which all of
    the above should just fit into (e.g. Altura Stream, medium size).
