Same here Brian. I also use a lot of Splenda in my every day kitchen
routine. I'm diabetic and drinking regular soda would really cramp my
style, glucose wise. Besides, I've been drinking diet soda for so many
years, regular soda tastes sickeningly sweet to me. My taste buds have
    been well trained 😉

Most of the time I drink lemon water that is sweetened with just a little
Splenda, and I also cook with Splenda. There are diabetics on both sides
of my family, so I have avoided sugar since I was in high school. On
special occasions and during the holidays, I will have a treat, other than
    that, I avoid consuming sugar.

This lemon water sounds good! I will try it. I make iced coffee with
splenda and vanilla and 2% milk that tastes like Starbucks Frappacino.
It's dangerous if you're sensitive to caffeine though--like chugging
speed! I love Splenda, for me it has no aftertaste. If it turns out to be
harmful I will be in trouble. I keep a canister of Splenda next to the one
with sugar on my kitchen counter, but nobody but guests use the sugar.
Like you, I have avoided sugar since adolescence. We do have diabetics
in our family, but worse (to a teen) we have FAT people in the family!
I was not so much worried about disease as getting fat. 🙂

    Obesity IS a disease.
Today, I went back on the diet. I want to lose at least 20 pounds by
late Spring, hopefully more. So far today, 3 cups of coffee with
Splenda and a little half & half, 1 small can of mushrooms, about a
tablespoon of flax seeds, and two chicken breasts, fried unbreaded in
peanut oil. Tomorrow morning I'm going to go buy a huge amount of
lettuce. I can happily eat lettuce with a tiny bit of fresh-squeezed
lemon and a light sprinkle of grated Parmesan.
I'm also going to buy in-the-shell sunflower seeds. They are the best
    diet food.
