I didn't add the butter or margarine to this recipe. I thought the fat from the beef was enough.

These little meat balls are frequently served at parties and other festive occasions. The Dutch usually serve them with mustard for dipping, and you might want to serve them with a variety of dips, including mustards, chutneys, and barbecue sauces.
I was really surprised by the first bite I took of one. I wasn't sure what sort of texture to expect, and I knew that the gravy I'd made was a binder, but I didn't think about it enough to realize that I was going to have a lucious gravy-meatball all encased in a crispy coating. It was pretty amazing. My guests raved over them. I served them with chutney, grainy mustard, and horseradish sauce. I think everyone thought the mustard went with it best.
