I need a back rack pack which will carry shoes and one change of clothing
(for commuting to work). Any recommendations? Some packs I see
advertised seem too narrow to carry much, but on the other hand I don't want
    a suitcase back there.

I recommend a Carradice SQR bag. Mine has room for a change of clothes,
my lunch, tools, and random pocket contents (wallet, keys, cell, work ID
card). It's waterproof (I live in Seattle), easy to pop off the bike and
carry with you. It's much sturdier than the rack trunks I've used
previously. And it's easy to swap the mount onto other bikes. Of course
, all this doesn't come cheaply.

I have the SQR Tour currently. Harris sells them here:

A long-forgotten loved one will appear soon.

Buy the negatives at any price.
