    Lee,
This is the way I workout as well. I do back and biceps on monday,
legs on wednesday and chest and shoulders on friday. I do abs on my
off days tuesday and thursday along with 1-1.5 hours of biking.I try
to keep my reps between 6-12 and no more then 3 sets per exercise. My
body can't take more than that, especially using the Bowflex. I think
part of this is the way the Bowflex works by keeping pressure on all
    the time.

Any resistance machine using a load accomplishes this.

Dump your Bowflex; buy dumbbells if you can.

then again, you can get a huge benefit from your bowflex when you
deadlift it to the curb for the trashman to pick up.

I don't see what's wrong with the Bowflex -- it's compact and gets people
    exercising.

Bowflex users have the same failure rates that Atkins dieters do.
check your local Want Ads under Exercise Equipment For Sale.

It has an artificial feel, ridiculously expensive and limited
    versatility vs dumbbells.

Better than nothing; sure is. A good prive-value; sure is not.
