  1. Yes, it contains sorbitol, a type of sugar not usually absorbed but which
    does promote gut activity. It has some small amount of fiber of the water
    soluable type, the whole prune has much more of this and might be a better
    choice. Seeking the cause of the problem would seem the long term goal to
    pursue.
