I will hopefully get my "hydration pack" tomorrow. I would like to
test it tomorrow as well, by running 5.6 miles (my standard distance
to bookstore and back) with it and drinking from the tube etc.

Is this a good idea to run for 5.6 miles, given that I have a race on
Sunday. Or should I run less.

You normally do that run once a week only? (Your training regime
is pretty obscure at this point if not.)

You're already so far from what anyone would recommend for running
a half marathon, in terms of depriving your training and your energy
supplies, that there's really nothing constructive anyone can say --
other than to not do the race in the first place. You've rejected that
excellent advice (hard-won in a number of cases).

Do as you like. You'll finish your race regardless, barring passing
out on the course. You'll feel a lot worse than you have to for your
training level, due to depriving your energy sources. And you'll feel
a lot worse than you need to even given your depriving your energy
sources, due to having such low training base. But you'll finish
if only on grounds of stubbornness and a desire to come back and tell
    Doug that you did finish.
