My geezer 45yo. self with physical problems hammers all the time. How
fast come see. Who gives a [censored] anyway?
We ride for fun and average or cruising speed doesn't mean a thing.
Don't get me wrong. I like to go fast, and do so as much as I can.
Then again, I go slow, too. Many of my rides include off road sections
and dirt trails of many miles, much of it single track. Some times I
hammer them and others I take it casually. Many times I'm touring
(sight-seeing) and socializing, having food and beer and such and a
great time. In that case, my speed drops a bit.
Anyway, if you must know, I don't know, because I don't ride with a
cyclometer. For me, biking became so much more fun without one.
However, to answer the question succinctly I normally cruise somewhere
between 17-23mph, depending on my condition and the wind
speed/direction. If I'm on a dedicated hammer session, it goes up a
notch (1mph?).
Has anyone ascertained the motivation for this question?
