Someone once sent me a sample of some genuine homemade pemmican that she'd made, and I LOVED IT.
I looked far and wide and couldn't find anyone who produced it for commercial sales. (NOT the company called Pemmican who makes beef jerfky).
Just now, I went to the neanderthin database to look up a recipe for it, and voila! they're now selling it!!!!
Unfortunately, it's extremely high-priced. :-(
I guess I'm finally going to have to try making my own.
it is very easy to do! Go ahead and have fun. I used soy sauce and a bit of meat tenderizer.
cool!
So are we all talking about the same thing here, the compressed cakes of pounded, dried meat, fat and dried chokecherries, with a texture something like soft, crumbly chocolate?

that must a terrible allergy to have to live with. nuts are *everywhere*.
Not really, they are not everywhere. There is plenty of foods without nuts. He is not even very upset that he cannot eat nuts when he sees me eat them. I told him that such is life, he cannot eat nuts, I cannot eat cakes and cookies, etc. He does not see this as very unfair.
well that's a good way to put it.
A Very Good way to put it...matter of factly, if you will. Nicely said. Joe
