I was watching the 2002 yesterday and during one stage Phil Liggett said something to the effect of a rider working his way up to Lance then asking permission to attack. On other videos I뭭e heard something along the same line. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks
Yep, it's [censored].++You never ask another rider if you're allowed to attack.++The Regional de l'Etappe (the rider who lives in the region where the peloton is riding) sometimes asks the leader if he can take a few 100m to greet his public & fans.++After that he waits for the peloton.++Ofcourse when the peloton is taking a collective [censored], there is a silent agreement that nobody attacks.++Fools who try to attack then are furiously caught back by the peloton.
